How to Choose the Right Digital Signage Displays

Choosing the right display technology is vital when setting up your digital signage; what will your customer see when they encounter your displays? Poor quality, poorly lit adverts that are easily ignored? Or bright, striking signage that can’t fail to attract customer attention? Read on to learn how to choose the right display for your needs, and how different displays can make all the difference.   Display Size: Getting Your Message In Front of Customers Displays can be found in a range of sizes; small displays at petrol pumps and checkouts, all the way up to the type of mammoth displays found in London’s Piccadilly Lights and at events and venues. The minimum recommended display resolution is Full HD (1,920x1080 pixels), though you’ll commonly find higher resolutions widely available including 4K (3,840x2,160, or four times the resolution of HD), and above. While the price for goes up accordingly, the clarity of the content does also, so it’s worth finding a healthy balance of display resolution, size, and budget. Ensure that any hardware that will be driving your content delivery is indeed capable of driving ultra-high-definition displays, like the ASUS Chromebox 4 or VivoMini VC65-C1. Other key factors you’ll want to consider are:
  •         What type of content are you displaying? Do customers need to be close in order to read anything? If so, opt for high-resolution displays if possible.
  •         How wide are the viewing angles on your chosen display? Does the signage disappear if viewers step too far to the left or right? Displays such as the [PRODUCT NAME] solve such issues.
  •         Is your content dependent on more complex details? Factors including HDR, high refresh rates, and more all play a part in ensuring your content is shown in the best possible light.
Make sure you browse ASUS’ range of displays to find those that work for your needs.    Location, Location, Location Display size and location are considerations that go hand-in-hand. Will it be facing into sunlight? Will people be walking towards the display, or will it be something they pass by? For bright sunlight, you’ll want to find displays that offer high nit brightness levels. DO bear in mind that the brighter the display, the more power will be consumed. Commercial grade displays are designed to operate for considerably more hours than domestic televisions, so try to ensure you select displays designed for long-term operation. Consider the following factors when placing your displays:
  •         Light levels
  •         The customer approach to your display
  •         How much time customers have to view, understand, and engage with your display
  •         If you’re running multiple signs, how much time viewers will have before the displays moves to the next sign.
The Content Management System Behind Your Displays Speaking of the signage itself, you need to consider what sort of content management system you’ll be using to drive your adverts and other signage. If you’re looking to output simple displays, you may just require a simple configuration with a USB port to add in display storage. However, an increasing number of signage displays provide an OPS (Open Pluggable Specification) interface. This is a standard slot in the rear of the display that allows a small OPS module to be installed. Take a look at the various player options in the next article. Otherwise, you can now take advantage of mini form-factor PCs like the previouslyt mentioned ASUS Chromebox 4 or VivoMini VC65-C1, offering high performance output for multiple displays, while maintaining a small profile both physically, as well as in regards to energy efficiency.   Looking for advice and support on your upcoming digital signage needs?
