Considering we now have predictive text that learns how we type, smart filters that understand what we do and don’t want to see in our inbox, it’s easy to imagine a future where those elements of our lives evolve and can respond for us. Our emails would be pre-written by technology for us, ask for confirmation, and send upon our acceptance. The same would go for our phones, managing spam calls, and more. The admin tools that we rely on daily will soon become increasingly helpful, eliminating hours of tasks that don’t impact efficiency but are needed for business to run smoothly. Additionally, our inboxes will become more secure as they become smarter, continuing to protect us and our businesses from phish attempts, hacks, and more, by spotting cleverly-designed emails before we do. According to Carbon Black, 88% of UK businesses have suffered a breach in the last 12 months, with around half of cyberattacks involving phishing (PWC). As our email programs grow smarter, our business grows safer.

AI Manages the Tedium, Leaving the Creativity to Us

Writing, image editing, creating visual content, and more; when we sit down to work for eight hours each day on such tasks, a surprising amount of that time is taken up by the invisible work we often ignore. Deciding which tools to use, how paragraphs should be written or formatted, how an image should be composited, how a video should flow. AI can and likely will remove this invisible time wastage, working as an invisible assistant, speeding up our workflows, and helping us make smart decisions every time we switch our systems on. Removing such legwork leaves us to do what we do best; ideate, design, develop, and come up with original, creative work.

Along with our emails and work programs, the way we browse the internet and acquire information will get smarter. You can already see this happening with AI assistants like Google Assistant and Siri. These platforms will continue to learn how we search, what we search for, and more, helping us search better, acquire the most accurate information, and manage other areas of our work lives. Platforms like LinkedIn are already using AI to help connect recruiters and potential employees, saving countless hours of effort and connecting employees with the right businesses they’re already looking to work with. As AI and machine learning continue to evolve, this process will improve even further.

Commuting to Work

Vehicle manufacturers are already implementing smart technology into their cars; intelligent braking, sensors, integrated live maps, and more already aid our journey to and from work. It’s a small but significant step that we’re about to make that will see our commutes become less frustrating and more productive. With AI-driven self-driving vehicles and a suite of other technologies, our cars can and likely will become areas to relax or to work in peace. Executives and business development managers who often travel for meetings and conferences lose days each year that they could otherwise be managing business or taking time out from a busy day. The imminent evolution in smart vehicle technology will mean for many of us who travel for business, we’ll reclaim hours of our days for relaxation and productivity.

Customer Support Becomes More Efficient and Effective

Understandably, customers often don’t enjoy talking to a robot when seeking help with a product or service. That’s usually due to slow, relatively poor-quality generic responses served up by such technology. AI chatbots and similar services continue to grow in effectiveness, providing an easy to use, understandable service that makes the customer experience better and saves businesses a significant sum on customer service expenses.   AI is already changing the way we live.
